Selling copper? Minnesota requires a copper seller permit as of Jan 1, 2025. Scales close a little early because of state reporting rules for vehicles and catalytic converters.

About Midway

Family owned on Lincoln Ave since 1959

Midway started in the 1940s as Midway Auto Wrecking on St. Cloud's east side. The scrap yard and steel supply became Midway Iron & Metal in 1959. The Lehnen family started working here in the early 1970s and bought the business in 1987.

Today Jason Lehnen runs Midway with his brother and sister, and the next generation is already learning the warehouse. We're Central Minnesota's family-owned, locally owned metal service center and recycling center, not a branch of an outside corporation.

Common questions

Are you open to the public?

Yes. Walk-ins are welcome for steel, aluminum, stainless and trailer parts. Orders are first come, first served, so calling ahead gets you in and out fastest.

Do I have to buy a full length?

No. We cut to length. Most stock comes in 20' to 24' lengths, and full lengths or full drops include two free torch cuts per piece. A few products are sold full length only.

How do I get a design plasma cut?

Email a file or a sketch to plasma@midwayiron.com, bring in a template (cardboard, paper or an old part), pick from our library of nearly 3,000 stock images, or sit down with Brian and design it on the spot. We can only cut logos you own or have written permission to use.

Can you do bending or plasma work on Saturday?

Saturdays are for helping customers in the warehouse, so press brake and plasma work is scheduled on weekdays. Call by 2 p.m. Friday to have an order pulled for Saturday pickup.

Do you deliver?

Yes, in town and out of town, plus a weekly Thursday run to the Little Falls area. Call for delivery pricing.

Can I return cut material?

Cut material and special orders can't be returned. Full lengths in good shape can be.
